What is EMDR?
EMDR is a structured therapy that encourages the client to focus briefly on the trauma memory while simultaneously experiencing bilateral stimulation (eye movements is one method), which is associated with a reduction in the vividness and emotion associated with the trauma memories. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is an extensively researched, effective psychotherapy method proven to help people recover from trauma and PTSD symptoms. Is EMDR available over telehealth?
Absolutely. EMDR can be just as effective via telehealth as it is in person. Some individuals may find it is more comfortable to process trauma from the comfort of their own home, with access to emotional support animals or other comforts.
